Videos

I thought it might be good to showcase some of my programming skills here and demonstrate how I have worked at simplifying common office tasks whilst at the same time improving quality assurance.

The video file attached to this page is a method I use to help train staff in architectural offices they can access a selection of these videos from an interactive menu page which sits on a location on their company network. From that menu they can watch the videos or review accompanying PDF illustrated instruction sheets

When you review the video you will see a demonstration of a program I've written which sets up a new directory structure on a company network based on a predefined standard template and by using the user inputs. After answering a couple of questions the user generates a standard project directory, named and saved to the company's network, without the dangers of the template being changed by mistake or even deleted, the program also checks to ensure the project does not already exist!

The program has to be customised for each client as no two offices follow the same filing structures or network drive names. It usually takes a couple of days of re-writing the program, testing and demonstrating to staff how it works and ensuring the people who need access have the necessary short-cuts.
